How to make a well lit zippo
Project files: ibl.zip
The aim of this tutorial is to explain how to use HDRI to illuminate a scene. First, we need to load a test scene. Open the scene zippo_hdri.mb.
Render it as it is, to get this image.
Then we enable the hdri image. Go into Render Globals and choose Image Based Lighting. Enable the checkbox and load a hdri image. Turtle currently supports the radiance HDR format, which can be produced by for example HDRShop , and the environment maps should be in the longitude/latitude coordinate format (X-axis - longitude, Y-axis - latitude).
If you have an image in some other coordinate system, this could also easily be transformed in HDRShop. We will use the galileo's tomb from from debevec's homepage, it can be found in the sourceimages of the project.
Enable HDRI shadows. render again.
